Preying Mantis Gets A Steampunk Makeover

Making these insect creations out of scratch is a phenomenon I just love. Insects as creepy as they can get are best morphed into nice pieces of art from the Victorian era. Hats off to these creators. One such artist on Etsy has gelled so well his artistic prowess with copper wires, vintage clock parts and gears, twisting their fate into this ‘”pretty” looking Steampunk Preying mantis - I haven’t used that term for any creepy insect before. These natural creatures are unique and have a lovely praying stance that gives them the name and so is this 15 cm X 13cm X 13 cm creation ready to hunt us in the room. More pictures after the jump:
